When I was in high school and undergrad, I was often drawn to nonprofit organizations. There was something about embeded community work within a part- or full-time job, rather than needing to volunteer outside of one to feel connected. After graduation, I continued that thought.
Project Manager, Entertainment Nonprofit & Marketing Agency
Supervising the creative team and managing stakeholder relations as a Project Manager, I strived for a culture of collaboration and precision. With the mentorship of the executive director, I was able to push my leadership skills and build my confidence. What I left with:
Writing for all mediums
I wrote everything from social media post copy, strategy plans, press releases, blogs, website copy, on-boarding guides, recruitment posts, automated emails and push notifications, project summary deliverables and more.
Other special-ops written deliverables include: live event production rundown, streamed interview scripts.
Strategic communication
No two people communicate the same because they will never think the exact same way. In this role, I learned to spend time with each of my clients and colleagues to best understand what workflow and expectations are harmonious with each other.
Finding voices, assisting narratives
Live, on-your-feet interviews are exhilarating and overwhelming because you never know what nuggets a source will throw at you — and then throw off your pitch. Letting clients create their own narrative branding for film festivals, auto companies, art sales, etc. was just the same. Coming up with marketing and press strategies, writing blogs and conducting interviews with their source list, and playing the SEO justttt right is what has helped me get the right quotes even while conducting man-on-the-street.
Communication Manager, Entertainment Nonprofit & Marketing Agency
I found my way into managing internal and external communication by transitioning into graduate school.
Performed communication audits
Sifting through our project management hub, I would leave weekly messages to our creative and management teams. These updates included kudos on the best collaborations, and suggestions on how to facilitate more efficiently next.
